Codes of Honor

The ethics of care that shape how we practice at Xol Labs.

  1. Care is a practice, not a performance. Real care takes form.
  2. Devotion requires practice. What we value should be visible in our choices.
  3. Bodies first. No deadline, contract, or ambition overrides a body in the room.
  4. Black lineages are foundational. We credit, cite, and compensate accordingly.
  5. Nothing is built alone. Collaborators, ancestors, community, spirit, all in the room.
  6. Structure serves the life inside it. Systems exist to hold what matters, not overpower it.
  7. Consent is choreography. Nothing is assumed. Everything is offered, checked, and held.
  8. Exchange with integrity. Money, labor, energy, and attention are handled with clarity and care.
  9. Memory is infrastructure. We honor lineage, document process, and treat history as part of the practice.
  10. The living archive carries responsibility. Notes, records, and archives are treated with context, care, and respect.
